Power cable recommendations (simple, not expensive)
« on: 18 Jul 2021, 07:36 pm »
(I'm such a forum newbie I'm not allowed to search; I assume I'd find the answer if I could!)

I just set up my brand new DVA 225 monoblock amps, which sound just wonderful. I am really happy!

I'd be marginally happier if I could relocate my amps a bit out of reach of my outlets, given the stock power cords.

Frank (or anyone else), any particular power cords you recommend (same quality as the stock cord is fine).  I like the Blue Jean Cable p.o.v., but they don't make power cords!

thanks. Updates to come as I listen more.

Supra LoRad are pretty good and don't cost a fortune.

I use Tripp Lite 14 AWG cords on my AVA amp and DAC. They are similar to the ones Frank provides, just a heavier gauge. You can get them on Amazon at a very reasonable price, and they come in various lengths.

Blue Jeans does make power cords but they are on the Iconoclast Cable website.  BAV power cords.  Other than that look at Cullen Cable or Signal Cable.

Without knowing your budget, if you want something more custom, take a look at Cullen Cables.  They are built well with quality parts.  I use the Gold series but the Red series are good without breaking the bank.

Patrick can make them in any length you want.

What power cord parameters are being met (or exceeded) that would justify this statement? Price, value, electrical profile?

Don't know what your budget is , but possibly consider the entry level Audio Art Cable - power 1 classic.  For me it was the 1st reasonably priced power cord that my ears could actually hear an improvement from ; had previously tried PS Audio, Signal Cable and a few others. I have since moved up their line.

I went to a musician's store and purchased the Tripp Lite 14 AWG in 3' lengths.  About $7 each.   These can safely handle a continuous 1440 watt load.  They are well made.  I did compare them to a couple of $100-$200 audiophile power cables and heard no difference.   I believe they make them in 6' and 10' lengths.
