Greetings Audio Gurus!

Over the last couple of years I have built two different sealed subs that utilize a sub plate amp with built in DSP.  My goal was to keep the 10" sub and the 12" subs as small as possible and utilize DSP to tune the subs to the room and blend them with the main speakers.  The amps I used were Dayton SPA250DSP (link below).  I have been very pleased with the sound I am getting from these subs.  The 10" is in use with my X-LS Encores and I feel like I have a good thing going.  To me they are controlled and not boomy.  My desire is tight, fast, accurate bass - and I seem to have it.

With everything I have read and watched I have no doubt Open Baffle subs would be the best way to go for an improvement.  Like many folks, I don't have the room or budget right now for this.  So, my question, does anyone have thoughts or experience with how a sealed Rythmik servo sub might compare to a DIY DSP controlled sealed sub like I have?  My concern in looking at the Rythmik sealed sub option is the amp has limited controls compared to a full DSP.  On the other side though, the servo control is a critical element that the DSP approach does not have.

Here are links to the components of my 10" sub for reference:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience!

  • Without music, life would be a mistake.
Sealed servo is definitely a step up over non servo sealed subs.

Tyson is correct.

DSP is really just EQ only.

The controls on the Rythmik amp will allow you to make the woofer do anything you want, EQ included. PLus it will allow you to control damping.
