Introducing myself to audio-Circle
« on: 27 Jun 2021, 05:42 pm »
Like many others,  found my way here via the Youtube channel, which I've been consuming voraciously and taking notes along the way. I want to learn more about how speakers work and some of the electronics.
I'd like to do a kit and buld smthg for my son, but its not easy after a stroke 2 years ago, there's only so much you can do with one hand before you need an assistant.
I'm a Brit living in Switzerland after retiring after 32 years with the Dow Chemical (or is that Comical?) Company, I'm a Linn Lifer - my systems have been purely Linn since I ditched my Naim amps around 1988, so I'm also a sealed box guy so far and unlikely to change as our houses don't really have the space for open baffle positioning and wives everywhere have limited understanding and tolerance !
Upgrades on the cards right now are for the active Keltik loudspeakers by switching the standard mids for SEASM15CH002 and the tweeters for Hiquphon OW-2/92 - the so-called "Killer Keltik" mods, and While Danny has already told me you need a whole new X-over. I will also be upgrading to the Linn Exakt system and there are now Filters available for this mod which can be installed in the Klimax Exaktbox
As a relentless tinkerer and being retired, ya gotta do something !

Hello Everyone,

I've been into stereos since my Dad gave me his Fisher X-202B when I went to university in the late 70's, I grew up with that amp playing his Beatles, Nat King Cole, Glen Miller and B.B King records. I have been on off with buying/upgrading my system and gave up on it in the early 90's when I realized that it was a never ending money pit.  Got back into it 5 years ago when I inherited a Dynaco Pat 5 and ST416 from my buddy. 5 years later I have a few systems on rotation, and have been hooked to separates from the 60's to 80's.  I do have some electronics vocational background in HS, so I am putting them to good use. Fixing or restoring gear that I bought and found this site when I recently bought a Van Alstine 2 power amplifier that needed some work.

Welcome!   Great handle, btw.  I love everything Lucas (well, except perhaps Howard the Duck).   :thumb:
