I still have a full time job working as an aircraft mechanic/avionics tech in Las Vegas Nevada USA.
20 years ago a colleague got me started in repairing old audio to flip on the auction sites. It seemed intriguing and an easy way to make some side money. Well, I don't flip any more unless it's restored and perfect.
I still can't get enough of the excitement in a proper repair, or a nice shiny restored vintage unit.
My other passion is repairing and using the older test equipment for troubleshooting the audio pieces of the 60's and 70's. Using the same era equipment on the receivers and audio is a trip that brings my hobby to another level.
I have a nice perfectly working collection of the Sound Technology equipment. Another crazy collection I have is multi-meters. Mostly Fluke and Simpson's. I can't pass them up when I see them at yard and estate sales.
I'm looking forward to contributing and meeting new kindred spirits.
Cheers
Bob

Hi.
So, are you for hire?

What kind of vintage gear do you like? For ex... 1950's tube gear or 1970's SS stuff? Or all of the above?

Hi.
So, are you for hire?

What kind of vintage gear do you like? For ex... 1950's tube gear or 1970's SS stuff? Or all of the above?

My favorites are mostly solid state from the late 60's through the 80's. I do restore the tube gear (Easy work) when asked.
Lately, the local repair shop has closed (The rumor is they maybe re-opening in the fall. (Audio Experts)). I been getting repair work from local word of mouth. Mostly flippers with junk amps, with no service info. I can live off the land but in some cases it takes longer (Research) and that takes me away from my on going restoration work.
All the audio work is during my weekends and the audio work I do, comes from out of state and overseas. It's shipped in, restored/repaired and shipped back to the owner, and they have been customers for over 15 years. I'll still flip a few pieces in my own collection that I had held onto, after I see something I like better.
My main goal in joining Audio circle, is for the information on some of the newer modern audio circuits and techniques. This is something I need to better grasp and these forums seems like it will fit that bill.
I hope to be able to help others in their vintage projects. I have a lot of experience in the popular brands of the 70's and 80's.
