I, too, think solid wires are great. The point of my rambling below is to say that you can use the magnet wire as a foundation for your cables if you want to experiment with other materials in the future.
After much comparison and agonizing, I made some cables using some wire I had accumulated: very pure unisulated solid 18 ga. copper (not magnet wire), 23 ga. silver and ~30 ga. gold-plated copper-beryllium alloy. Each uninsulated wire was threaded through appropriate gauge teflon tubing and bound with 1/8" techflex and terminated with soldered bananas and then shrink wrapped on the ends. I didn't combine the + and - runs, so I have four wires for a stereo pair and there's no twisting.
I use single-driver speakers with tubes or a modded tripath eval board and they have great bass, speed, and extended highs. I could envision these cables being too hot for many set ups such as SS w/ multi-driver speakers, but I like them for my purposes. IMO these three wires do sound better as a group than individuals or in pairings. Also, I imagine there are probably many scientific reasons these wires made of different materials shouldn't be good, but my ignorance is bliss.
BTW, M. Percy is a good vendor for better quality magnet wire.
