Supra is one of the most interesting cable companies out there. Founded by electrical engineers in Sweden, they work with Swedish universities to find real world applications of manufacturing techniques and materials to create cables that offer superior quality at an affordable price.

Typically known for their ultra affordable wire that sells for a few dollars for a foot, however, Supra also builds a statement cable called The Sword. I was looking to buy a set to try, but found that Sword is only terminated in single ends, and I need a bi-wire termination. Given how expensive it was I could not afford two sets.

Now I did a bit of research and found that Supra just released a wire called Annorum that they developed for a top end speaker manufacturer. This could be terminated as a bi-wire, and it was far more affordable than Sword. I ordered a bulk run from Europe as it was not available in the US.

A good friend terminated these for me with a Z-plug banana end, sheathed it so its not so ugly, and added appropriate heat shrink so they are sturdy and attractive. I have a couple of extra sets and since I am not going to build another system at this time, they have become extras.

To be clear. These are not factory terminations.

8 foot pair sell for $280

The reports are that Annorum offer 90% of the sound of Sword, but at a far more reasonable price. The mids are textured, robust, and natural. The tp end is extended but never etched. The bass response is powerful and extended.  Now I also have a pair of Wireworld Eclipse 8 speaker wire, and the Annorum come pretty close in sound but just lag behind a small bit. Eclipse 8 sells for $1800 for an 8 foot pair, so you can see who wins the cost vs performance comparison.

I’m intrigued- I have Vandersteens, so I need biwire.
Currently have Harmonic Tech Pro 9 Plus, but sometimes wonder if something else could make improvements. Are you familiar with the Pro 9s in comparison?
I’d have to reterminate the spades, which I have on hand.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
Lincoln
