Design Acoustics D-6 vintage walnut speakers

These are from the classic 70's era of hi-fi and are 10" 3-way floor standing speakers in beautiful walnut veneered cabinets, with new crossover capacitors and re-foamed midranges. Design Acoustics is best known for their 12 sided D-10, Dodecahedron speakers featured in an episode of the Brady Bunch. The D-10 was their top speaker, but the less expensive D-6 was designed to create a similar open side by using 4 Peerless tweeters on angled sides of the front baffle, in addition to forward firing tweeter and a single forward siding Peerless K040 midrange. The woofer is mounted on tgreat corners he back of the cabinet and is covered by a perforated plastic covering that is still in excellent shape.

The woofers have rubber surrounds and are in great shape. The midrange was recently re-foamed and the crossover capacitors were rebuilt using poly caps on the tweeters, and NPE caps bypassed by a poly cap on the midrange.

These speakers produce a very unique, wide dispersion sound. They work perfect and sound great. As can be seen in the pictures, the cabinets are in great shape with stunning veneer. As expected from 40+ year old speakers, there are some marks in the veneer, but the edges are corners are nearly perfect and in general these are some of the better looking 70's speakers I've owned.

In general, the grilles are pretty nice, but the original owner put small nails in the corners of the grilles. I removed these, but they did leave small holes in the cloth covered perforated plastic grilles.

$300

Speakers are for sale as local pickup only near Akron, Ohio with payment upon pickup.

I've owned these and their big brother the D-12.  They are excellent speakers and a good value at the asking price.

I sold these "in the day" and preferred the D6 to the D12.

I had two pairs in 1973-5 when I replaced them with Quad ELS, good trade.
