For all of you solder heads: Jan at 41Hz.com now has the Amp3 available for purchase. It comes with a good quality board and parts for $25 US, $7 shipping. It's based on the TA2021B Tripath chip and the parts look to be of reasonable quality.
There are no details on the site regarding this chip's sonics as compared to the TA2024, so it's a gamble as to what one will hear when it's done. But for $32 and my love for DIY, I had to jump in if for no other reason than to learn more about working with surface mount components... I'll need a giant magnifiying glass.
