Stands for My OB Subs

I love my OB subs, but the one thing I do not like is the out board amp laying behind them. So I was thinking about building some stands for them. I would then have a drawer in the stand in which I could mount the amp. By laying the amp on its back in a drawer it would only add about 6 inches to the overall height, which I would like to keep as short a possible. I do not want to rebuild the whole cabinet I have too much time and money into them.

So do you think ventilation would be a problem for the hx-300 amp?

Everything I have read, the heat sink in adequate. They are used in sealed enclosures from Rythmik. No need to worry about them in a sealed environment.

If they are enclosed inside a drawer there may not be enough air movement across the heatsinks for them to cool properly.

Its funny you both came up with the same pros and cons I was thinking. Which is the reason I asked everyone else for their opinion. I guess I could incorporate some vent hole of some sort. This is me thinking.

You could always build some ventilation into the back side or drawer portion of the stands, so it at least has a way for the heat to escape.

Should give it enough airflow to not be an issue.

What if you build an open shelf below the subs that is open to the sides. The front wall you could paint just black like your base.

In addition to vents, if getting hot is a problem, you could install a cabinet fan blowing out the vent

This sounds like a great idea. I could even leave them in the boxes they are mounted in now. Just have to make sure the don't vibrate too much when in use.

Thanks
