Two sealed servos/ one amp
« on: 16 Mar 2021, 02:23 pm »
If I want to have stereo sealed subs can I use a single amp to drive both?
I've heard that the cabling must be kept short from amp to driver for servo circuit to work properly.
If I station the amp between the subs I would have around 4' of wire to each.
Can I do this or will it require two amps?
Thanks.

No, the plate amps are mono only. You would need separate amps for each channel and driver.

Ok I see. If not going stereo, just two subs in mono, would the cable run from the amp (between the subs) be an issue at 4' per run? I'm contemplating using the subs as stands for the NX Monitor.

The best place in the room for your speakers is typically not the best place in the room for your subs and visa versa. So have the flexibility to move them around independently is a bonus.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen some are using their subs as stands but I understand it's not ideal. What crossover point do recommend with the NX-Monitors? My amp has stereo line level outs for subs. Is that the best way to go?

It's not necessarily ideal, but with some decent means of isolation, it's rather practical, esp when space is as a premium.

The NX Studios start to roll off around 70Hz, so thats where I would start. Unless you mean the NX-MTM, I believe those roll off a bit higher, closer to 120Hz.
