I remember stuff like this being all the rage in the Midwest in the late 70’s.  This I kinda get, especially since it moved the gas tank out of the line of fire

The gas tank might not burst in flames on a rear end collison on this modified, however, I'm sure that on a side impact collison, it will easily flip over !
