Many years ago a fellow who worked for me (call him Norm) explained the dynamics of being late for work very well.
Years before he worked for me he worked in finance. As he explained if you were a few minutes late you were hauled into the supervisors office and chewed out. This would have been the sixties.
But if you were more than 30 minutes late, the supervisor would be very concerned. What happened? Is there anything I can do to help?
Norm would be hung over, a little late, and sit in his car in the parking lot for 30+ minutes.
