RCA shorting plugs
« on: 18 Feb 2021, 08:50 pm »
"These shorting plugs are more than just covers for vacant RCA inputs. Inserting these plugs will short-circuit the input and stop any RF noise from getting inside the circuit. With the shorting plugs installed you will improve the S/N ratio which can lead to a dramatic improvement in sound quality. If the inputs on your particular preamp use relays to short them when not in use these plugs will offer no sonic benefit."

Would the BP-6 use relays to short them when not in use?

Never mind. I asked this exact same question 6 years ago and got an answer from Mike Pickett.    LOL

Cheap enough to try and discern any difference. No need for fancy here. Radio Shack or equal. Work for me in other gear.

Mike Pickett's answer from 6 years ago....

"Some of our preamps use relays to disconnect (not short) the unused inputs, while others use a mechanical switch to do the same.  Regardless of how the input is selected, the unused input connectors are completely isolated from the circuitry in the unit, so there is no value in shorting them."

Thanks,

Mike
