Well it sounds like you're getting close to tracking down the problem,  good to hear the Minimax wasn't the problem.

I'm liking what I'm hearing about the Tempest.  Please feel free to share any further thoughts on the Tempest, John.  I love hearing (reading) about it.

I'm awaiting my Tempest Extreme,  if I remember correctly Klaus said it would be shipped sometime this week.   I can't wait to get that baby set up in my system.

I'm equally excited about the Stratos Mono Extremes,  which will take a little longer.   Tempest Extreme ...first.  Mono Extremes......second.  Loreleis....third :D  8)

TjMV3 - You really shouldnt encourage me like that.  :nono:  I may never shut up now!

I just finished listening to a few more CDs.  This time, I was a little more relaxed, and in a very good mood since it is Friday.  I played a few jazz pieces, and was very pleased.  I have read so many reviews that use the terms "open and airy" to describe sound. I now know what they are talking about.  Those are perfect words to describe the sound that I am now getting.  Hooha!

I then played a Melissa Etheridge CD that previous versions of my system had trouble with.  The sound was outstanding.  Perhaps it is just me being in a Friday mood, but I thought this CD sounded much better than before.  Bass was very good, soundstage was great, highs were crisp, yet smooth, and the overall sound was very cohesive.  In the past,  I had trouble with vocals being overstated, and bass being understated.  No more.  Hooha!

mine hasnt had any problems withy cd's-i dont listen to burned stuff so i cant comment about that other than the few burned cd's i do have work i think  mine is also a us voltage-maybe some problems with the 220 ones caused by the voltage converter :?:

its built like a tank so i'm not worried about it taking a dump-even if it does in a few more years its only a 300$ player-
knock on wood its been great so far-great audio bargain

Hi Rosconey, So if it breaks now, what do you do? Is there any fort of warranty for it now during the first year? I think it is now going for $350

a one year warranty was offered for 99$ when i bought it-i passed

it got to be about a year old now-knock on wood

bill baker at response has the kavent line now i think-better parts and its also redesigned i guess and with a warranty- granted he is more than what i paid but his are us voltage and warrantied also less for shipping- so for a few hundred  more you can get his and still stay under a grand-

Well,  the truth is......I work from home.

I'm just letting it (the Tempest Ext) rip and burn for a while,  then I'll do some serious listening.

I tried to take some better pics of my Nightingales,  than the pics ....when I first got them .

A little better,  but the camera isn't that good.  If you're interested in seeing them,  click on the links.
