Hi from Canada. I'm new on here and curious about building my own speakers. Hopefully I can find some good information in the threads!
Has anybody ever built any of the kits from GR Research?

Cheers

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

Welcome!

Loudspeaker building is full of hazards.  Not being able to audition before hand is one.  Another is proud papa syndrome.  Focusing on lumber, veneer, and woodworking versus sound quality is a third.  Discounting the skill/experience of loudspeaker designers/builders is a fourth.  Ignoring the advantages of active design is a huge fifth.

Example:  for $300/pair you can buy Kali LP-6 2-way front ported active very capable/serious monitors with wave guide that sound smooth, detailed, and with excellent imaging.  They have built-in amplifiers so your whole system could consist of a preamp/DAC, patch cord, and loudspeakers.
