What will it be?

The BP26 is there for many years now, what will be the next revision of this amp?

Suggestions for a new BP27?

Hi

I think the BP26 will stay for a while as it is our only pure analog preamp but we will use it with the new PS3 power supply rather than the older MPS2.

I think the BR20 we just introduced will probably become the main preamp for those wanting a combination of Digital and Analog preamplifier with streaming capabilities as well

Hi James,

Ok, but if you don't need the "digital circuitry" (DAC/streamer), do you still recommend the BP26 over the newer BP17 (cubed)?
What are the sonic differences? You would say a separate power supply would do better than integrated power supply?

Hi Vhond

I personally like the BP26 if analog is all you need. Sonically the BP26 is a more up-front sound and the soundstage tends to come out and forward of the speakers.  The BP17 is more laid back with the soundstage moving back and away from the speakers.  The dynamics on the BP26 seem a little faster than on the 17 but the 26 can sound a bit hard at times on the transients under high volume levels.  I think the BP17 is probably more 'tonally' accurate than the BP26 as the BP26 can sound a bit more hi-fi-ish if the material is not of good quality.

Having an external supply vs an internal supply (assuming proper design) is more a marketing and aesthetic decision rather than a performance one.

So are we to assume that the BP 26 is going to a one box design? Also I have a question about the newer circuit that is used from input to output that is used on the cubed series, will that be incorporated in the newer BP 26 produced or is it not possible without a whole redesign.

Hi Barry,

The BP26 will stay but we are going to continue to use the new external PS3 external power supply instead of the MPS2.

It would be a totally new design on the BP26 so the BP17 is the better option there.

@James: thank you for your explanation.
