9Bst Power Switch
« on: 9 Mar 2005, 09:47 am »
I have a 9bst (yr 2000) owned from new and the front power switch has stopped working.  I am still able to power the unit from the 12v trigger but wondered if there was anything I could do myself to avoid the hassle of sending the unit back to PMC (UK)?

kind regards

If, by "stopped working", you mean it won't switch on, then it's supposed to work like that. If you've set it to be switched on by the 12V trigger then that's the only way you can switch it on (although the switch on the front can still be used to switch off regardless of the trigger state).

Look in the manual, bottom of page 4:

Thanks for the pointer but I've already read the instructions and tried all combinations.  With the slider on the back set to manual the front switch does nothing and the trigger does nothing.  With the slider set to auto the front switch does nothing and the trigger swithces it on and off.  The front switch is not responding with the slider switches in any position!!

I assume the trigger slide switch is set to LOCAL not Remote?

I've tried all the combinations;

Auto - Local:  Switches on when 240v is applied from wall socket
Manual - Local: Nothing switches it on
Remote - Auto/Manual 12v trigger powers it up

In all modes front switch will not affect state.

I'll just add this as a postscript to the matter.

Having thrown the original box away I decided to take the amp in to PMC today for the repair.  Much to my surprise and pleasure they replaced the switch within an hour removing the need for a return visit or extended period without the amp.

I would just like to record my thanks to Andy Wilson at PMC.

That's a 20yr warranty in action!!
