Hello everyone.  I'm super glad to be here.  I came over from the GR-Research website as I just purchased Danny's upgrade kit for my SVS Ultra center channel speaker.  I'm 69 years old (still have pretty good hearing though - lol) and I am a lifelong music audiophile.  I've gone from a cassette player, through every imaginable upgrade, until I am finally here.  My opinion is that technology has gotten us to a great level in music reproduction.

My system:  All music is on my home theater computer/QNAP NAS and I use J River Media Center as my player.  Mostly classical and some jazz, ripped multichannel SACD or download dsf files if available.  I have an OPPO BDP-93 if I want to play an SACD but I almost always play ripped music from the NAS.  Marantz AV8805 pre/pro, Parasound A52+ amplifier plus an older Outlaw amplifier for my 4 elevation speakers (ATMOS, DTS-X, Auro 3D).  Speakers are SVS Ultra bookshelf and center (on stands), SVS Ultra surround speakers and four SVS elevation speakers all mounted on walls.  I also have two SVS SB13 Ultra subwoofers (with the new amplifier upgrade kit).  I also have a few acoustic panels from GIK.

My listening space does have a few issues (as always) but some great aspects as well.  My specific listening area is 14 feet wide, 30 feet long, and ceiling height is vaulted from 11 to 14 feet.  But, the room opens completely to the right in to a huge great room.  I love the space.  Subwoofers are under control and soundstage and depth is good.  I hope Danny's upgrade does indeed take me to the next level.  He's working the the SVS Ultra bookshelves now and I will certainly get them once available.  It's a hobby, why not?

I'm a retired USAF officer and last August retired as a financial advisor.  Guess what?  I can now drive my wonderful wife crazy with constant hometheater tweaks.
