Hello,
Long time audio=phile wannabe, but too cheap to $pend money on over-priced gear.
As a kid in the 80's, I frequented the local hifi shop and became enamoured with Infinity speakers, and was in amazement at the existence of the Infinity IRS speakers, and vowed that one day, somehow, I would own a pair of Infinity Kappa 9 speakers.
But i was always too cheap.
I did buy a pair of Infinity Infinitessimal RS 0.1's that I have been using for many years as my desktop computer spekaers!
A few years ago, I helped a friend of mine out who was going through a divorce buy buying his DJ speakers from him. My home theater is now cluttered with 5,500 watts of powered Dance club speakers (two QSC KW 153, and 21" sub the Yorktown Elite LS2100P!) Not exactly audiophile quality, but that sub can crack the foundation of the house if I have it turned up! I've had a few outdoor parties and wheeled the big speakres outside, and they litterally fill the acreage with sound like I am at an outdoor concert... which is not too surprising, since that's exactly what these speakers are for.
But my cheap DIY nature has me looking at some DIY speakers and amps. It seems like the industry is ready for some practical DIY hifi.
I work more in steel in my hobby time - wood is a bit foreign to me. But I am ready to learn about DIY audio, whcih is why I am here.
Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here.
