Soul - Pixar's new film is pure joy

Soul (2020) is one of the best feel good films of 2020, it is funny, uplifting, made for adults and children too although they may miss the existential and metaphysical aspects on the first viewing.

"Why do I exist? What’s the point of being alive? What comes after?" The film answers all these questions.

Joe Gardner is a jazz musician living in Manhattan and reluctantly has to mentor "22", a new Soul. Their misadventures are hilarious, thought provoking and non-stop. The Manhattan streetscapes are expertly rendered and lighted as only Pixar can do, action is everywhere. And it has a happy ending, not like Bambi.

Animation and lighting is state-of-the-art

Music by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste is flawless.
Jon Batiste talks with Lara Downes where he talks about his role as a musician, consultant and composer in 'Soul'

Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, and Angela Bassett are perfect, everyone is excellently cast.

Not to be missed and the perfect reason (besides "The Mandalorian"; season 2 was the best ever) to finally get Disney+

Agreed, it's very well done.  There are some nice extras available to watch on Disney+ as well.   A good one specifically about the music and sfx.

Jamie Foxx, aka Eric Bishop, was in my chemistry class a gillion years ago.  Lets just say I'm glad he's working and paying his taxes.  It was touch and go whether or not he would end up in jail.  Not my favorite ex- student.
