BDP-3 powering
« on: 25 Dec 2020, 01:57 pm »
My BDP3 works flawlessly except the power button.
It doesn’t respond. Stay on all the time.
When I disconnect the power cable and reconnect it, the BDP turns on right the way without going to the standby (red) mode.
Once it’s ON, impossible to turn it off via the on/off button without disconnecting the power cord which is never a good idea with computer/processor...
TRIGGER is not in used (I read the manual)...
Any idea?

Hi Christo22,

I have a BDP-3 and I don't have a "shutdown" function on my WEBAPP interface.

I don't have a problem powering down.  The light turns red after the BDP-3 has had a chance to run through it's shutdown algorithm....about 15 seconds.

Hope this helps!

The screen turns off by itself after awhile but the LED remains GREEN.
Is there a way to HARD REBOOT from the faceplate buttons?

There is no shutdown button in the web ui.  As for your standby button not working I vaguely recall a similar issue last year, but besides having the unit brought in for service i don't recall what the issue was.  I'd suggest calling the factory Thursday to see if the tech that repairs the BDP's is in.

Roger! for the WEB UI. Thanks for letting me know.
I will give a call to your tech next week or the week after.

Can you confirm the screen shutting off after awhile? Sleep mode type of thing?
If letting it on all the time does not cause any issue... I'll just leave it this way.
I don't plan to send it in for repairs. At least not for now.

Oh sorry, yes there is a screensaver built in because the display is vacuum florescent, this helps to preserve its brightness over time. There is also a "hidden" menu that allows some customization.  It's a little fiddly to access, you push the up button followed by the left button very quickly.  I might have the order backwards.  It'll let you adjust the time out of the screen saver in pre-determined increments and the brightness.

I assume we're talking about the display on the unit.  Not sure how similar it is, but I have the BDP-pi.  With the panel pushbuttons one can access the setting for length of time before the display automatically goes to sleep.  It provides a maximum of 10 minutes "on" time.  The screen is tiny, unreadable from the other side of the room, and the displayed info is minimal.  Just the same, my preference would be for a longer display time, say, 30 minutes.

The Pi has a menu item in the normal menu, the BDP-3 uses a hidden menu (just like the BDP-1 and BDP-2).

How long does the BDP-3 allow the screen display to show?  What about the 3.14?

the 3.14 doesn't have a screen or really any easy way of relaying information to the end user outside of its web ui.  I think the BDP-Pi times out after as much as ten minutes and I think the BDP-3 can be as long as 5 or 10 minutes.

The longest screen display on the BDP-pi is 10 minutes.
