FS: USA Made 12AT7/WA/WB/WC/6201, 12AU7/A/5963/5814/A/6189, 6X4/W/WA, 5670 and 6DJ8/ECC88/6922 Vacuum Tubes

LISTING CLOSED - I had someone do a bulk buy and sold most of what is there (almost 900 tubes), but still have 5670, 6X4, Sylvania 6922 and some odds and ends from below.

I thought it best to close the listing and reorganize (plus I need some time to rest after packing 900 tubes).

I will set up another listing at some point, but feel free to continue to inquire.

PLEASE READ THIS LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY.  This is a long listing with a lot of information.

I have come into possession of a large quantity of tubes (preamp, rectifier, some power), so it is time to start listing.

There are various brands and structural alternatives.  I am only indicating general pricing for pairs, but singles and larger quantities are available.

The more you buy, the better the price.

In fact, buy them all untested for a really good price (local pickup or reasonably close meeting spot only, Chadds Ford (PA), inquire)

I will try to take specific requests for brands, constructions, etc., but may not be able to accommodate all specific requests.

I will also need a little time for testing, packing and shipping.  Please be patient.

All input tubes will be tested for transconductance (Gm) on my Amplitrex AT-1000 connected to a regulated power supply.  The test will be conducted in fixed bias mode, and I will run
the test cycle at least twice for better warmup and stabilization.  Test results will be reported and will be from the last cycle.  Test conditions and Gm specifications will also be provided.

Rectifiers will normally be tested on my Precision 660 emissions tester, which is reliable and all that is needed for rectifiers.

The goal of these listings is to provide pairs that test at least reasonably well (compared to spec), and are matched and balanced within 10% (tube-tube and section-section) on Gm for input tubes.  Meter readings will be used for rectifiers.  Of course, I cannot always achieve that goal, and price will vary based on test results.

Unless I specifically indicate, no other parameters have been tested.

Physically, all the tubes will have good-condition flashing, and pins will be straightened as needed (very few need it).  Some of the tubes may be a little dirty, or the pins could use a little cleaning.

Note that I will also from time to time have some singles that may be unbalanced, or test somewhat lower on one or both sections, or are questionable (in my opinion) for noise/microphonics (but see the explanation below) or physical appearance.  These will be available at reduced prices, so please inquire if interested.

In selling these tubes, I need to make the following points very clear.

Please note that your tube tester may give a different result that mine, so please take that into account. In the event of a tube tester conflict, MY TUBE TESTER CONTROLS.

Please also note that I cannot guarantee (or even remotely predict) how these tubes will sound or perform in general, and particularly in your equipment.

Any test results are only provided as an indication of tube performance is a very limited environment.  Except as expressly indicated in this listing, I disclaim any and all representations, warranties and liability with respect to these tubes, or responsibility for your use of them.

Please note that I am not a tube professional, I am not selling at tube pro prices, and I cannot and will not provide tube pro guarantees.

A quick note about microphonics – all tubes are little microphones and are microphonic to some degree.  Whether an individual tube is unacceptably microphonic or otherwise noisy in a certain piece of equipment is anyone’s guess.  The Amplitrex does have a headphone jack for checking noise/microphonics, and I will use this test to check these tubes.  I will try to provide tubes that (in my sole opinion) are not especially microphonic.  With almost all tubes, you can hear the tap of a pencil to different levels, but I will clearly avoid those that sound like church bells in a canyon.  As indicated above, however, this is NOT an indication of how the tube will sound or perform in your equipment, and there is absolutely no guarantee against microphonics or noise under any circumstances.

As a general rule, therefore, these tubes are being sold “AS IS, WHERE IS”, there are no refunds or returns, and the buyer assumes all risk in any purchase under this listing.

Notwithstanding, I am an honest seller (please check my feedback on EBay, ID=baileyler), and if there are truly any issues with these tubes that were not described (other than microphonics/noise) and can be verified, then I will work with any buyer on a reasonable solution.

By purchasing from this listing, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this entire listing, including all my terms and conditions, and agree to accept and abide by those terms and conditions.

Additional Terms and Conditions are detailed below.

Additional information and photos may be available, so please ask any questions in advance.

1.  12AT7 Types

“Plain” 12AT7 $5/pair black plate, $3/pair grey plate

12AT7WA/12AT7WB/12AT7WC/6201 – $5/pair double mica grey plate, $10/pair double mica black plate, $10/pair triple mica grey plate, $12.50/pair triple mica black plate

There are a large variety of types and manufacturers, including GE, RCA, Sylvania, Tung Sol and Raytheon.

2. 12AU7 Types

12AU7/12AU7A/5963 - $7.50/pair long black plate, $3/pair grey plate and others

5814/5814A – $5/pair double mica grey plate, $10/pair double mica black plate, $10/pair triple mica grey plate, $20/pair triple mica black plate.

6189/6189W/12AU7WA - $10/pair (mainly Sylvania and GE)

There are a large variety of types and manufacturers, including GE, RCA, Sylvania, Tung Sol and Raytheon.  The only thing not included are RCA cleartops.

3.  6X4/6X4W/6X4WA/6202 - $5/pair

There are various types and constructions.  Lots of Tung Sol, Sylvania, GE and RCA.

As indicated above, these will be tested on my Precision 660 emissions tester.

4.  5670 - $20/pair for black plate, and $10/pair for grey plate

These are typically GE, Sylvania, CBS and Raytheon branded.

The 5670 requires an adapter that I do not have for the Amplitrex, so testing will be done on a Westmore 501 (gov't version of Triplett 3444).  If I can get an appropriate adapter, then I will switch over testers.

5.  Sylvania Made 6922 - $25/pair

These are all Sylvania made 6922 with typical Sylvania tube type etching in the glass.

I also have lots of Amperex (USA and a few NL) made 6922/E88CC (gold pin), and will try to list some pairs in the not-too-distant future.  Feel free to inquire if interested.

6.  6DJ8/ECC88 - $10/pair

These are generally Sylvania and GE made.  I do not actually have that many, but I should be able to get a couple of good pairs out of the group.

I do, however, have lots of Amperex (and other Euro) made 6DJ8/ECC88, and will try to list some pairs in the not-too-distant future.  Feel free to inquire if interested.

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All these tubes should be considered “USED” for the purposes of this sale.

Prices are ex. Shipping (shipping will be added to the total).

Shipping in the US will be via USPS Priority Mail unless otherwise requested.

I prefer to ship USPS Priority Mail outside the US, but may consider First Class International depending on the circumstances.  If you choose to use First Class International, then you waive all rights to any claim for non-delivery or other delivery issues.  Depending on value, however, shipping via Priority Mail may be required.

Please request a shipping quote in advance.

I WILL NOT FALSIFY INFORMATION ON A CUSTOMS FORM.

For all shipping, the terms are EXW US Post Office (INCOTERMS 2010).  In accordance with these terms, I will deliver the lot into the possession of the US Post Office, and once in the possession of the US Post Office ALL RISK OF LOSS PASSES TO THE BUYER.

If, however, you have purchased insurance for the item, I will assist to the best of my ability in the processing of any legitimate insurance claim you desire to file.

I accept Paypal, US Postal money orders and cash (for local pickup).  While no fee Paypal is preferred, I will cover any Paypal fees.

I may consider some trade, but frankly I have no specific needs.  Tubes of interest include 5992, L63 (GEC tubular brown base), 805, 5Y3GB (Euro), 7731, 45, KT90 (EI), 7189, 7199, ECC801s and various other things at the right value.  I have too much equipment at the moment, but might be interested in an 845 or 211 based amp (and power tubes) for a larger transaction (I have many more tubes than listed).  I also have an interest in unopened and good condition Zenith, National Union and other tube manufacturer cans.  In any event, it does not hurt to ask, as something my catch my interest.

I can provide additional information or pictures on request.

Just a shout out to baileyler.
He just shipped me several well-matched pairs that test “as new”.
Baileyler went out of his way to ensure they met my expectations and were tested under conditions similar to my pre-amp’s operating point.
I admit I haven’t yet heard the results, but his communication and service to this point was exemplary.
I can’t wait to hear them.
Recommended.

Local is Chadds Ford (PA), zip 19317.

For a bulk sale, I would also be willing to meet within a reasonable distance.

I have also updated the listing.

Thanks to Openly Baffled for the nice message.

To clarify, I just put his tubes in the mail yesterday.

He wanted 5670, but I found out that my Amplitrex needs an adapter for that (which I do not have, but I am trying to get).

His parameter of most interest was amplification factor (mu), so I ran the tubes through my Utracer for him.  I do not have a lot of experience with or understanding of the Utracer, so I assured him that if the tubes were unsatisfactory for some reason then we would work out a refund or other solution.

Our communication has been great, and we completely and mutually agreed on expectations up front.

I really like working with and putting out the extra effort for good communicators and reasonable people.

I know my terms are a little bit excessive and scare off a lot of people, but they are necessary for that very small percentage of people that are dishonest or totally unreasonable.

That small percentage has the power to spoil it for everyone and make this more effort and stress than it is worth.

Hi baileyler,
Just Letting you know I received the tubes today – beautifully packaged and all intact. Thank you.

I’m currently listening to the CBS 5670’s – a type I haven’t heard before and I like them so far.

Measurements to follow in the next few weeks. (I like to listen before I measure so as not to bias my audio observations.)

Thanks again,
Regards,

Question - the title says Listing Closed. Does that mean you sold all the tubes and none are left?
