Apple's "Spatial Audio" in the AP Max.
« on: 16 Dec 2020, 05:08 pm »
Apple is using a very specific term for their DSP solution in their new over-ears, and i'm curious to hear y'all's reactions.

Would love to hear Clayton's thoughts on both the name and the product.

I have appreciated Crinacle's reviews, and his review of the new apple over-ears seems pretty spot on: https://crinacle.com/2020/12/17/apple-airpods-max-measurements-first-impressions/

Better Q is how do we get more love for Clayton by leveraging apples use of the term?

Apple trademarks every single little phrase they use, often many years in advance. Of course, it's their attorneys against your ability to enforce it. Let's hope Clayton gets a gazillion out of it  :green:

The term spatial audio covers a range of immersive sound technologies for multichannel systems. So, it is an emerging area of sound technology and research. It has nothing to do with Spatial Audio Lab as a consumer products hardware manufacturer.

The chicanery of copyright laws aside, we all know who is doing realistic playback best.
I guess I was just surprised that no one on these forums has quipped about it yet.

I'm currently typing on my new 13-in M1 Macbook, and my Mini 12 is mainlined and charging. Admittedly, they make some killer products. They also do a killer job of marketing over-priced, lifestyle-alignment products.
