Sharp SDEX111 for my birthday!

yah, so it was a gift to myself ;)

just got it hooked up,

out of the box it sounds pretty damn good, on par with the teac, above and beyond the SI. Great imaging, and the trademark tripath mids, good highs tho i think everything will sharpen (no pun intended) with burn in as right now the low end is a little muddy.

one caveat, this thing definitely isn't as loud as the Teac. Maybe it's the preamp limitations in the sharp?

i'll try hooking up the sha to it and see if that helps.

and the remote sucks! i think maybe the batteries are bad but the range on the remote is horrible.

it's pretty heavy and deeper than i imagined.

i'll test the cd quality tomorrow.

cheers you all!

Sharp actually uses proprietary tech, not tripath.  Check out vinnie's mods over at redwine yet?  Those blackgates cost more than the dang amp but that's how these things go...

I suppose that's like saying what's the difference between sony and panasonic?  They're both solid state sand amps...

Looking forward to hearing more.

.

The modded Sharp bypasses a few unnecessary resistors in the signal path, which results in increased transparency and some MORE VOLUME  :drums:

And yes, the stock unit does improve with burn-in, so let it run and enjoy!

Have fun,
