Greetings from Virginia
« on: 9 Dec 2020, 02:30 pm »
I've neglected to make an introductory post, so I'm finally getting around to it now.  I am a budget to mid-fi audiophile located in central Virginia. I mostly listen to indie/alternative rock, with some folk, rap and electronic music thrown in.  My name on this forum is from the Interpol song "Roland" - my real name is Dan.  I almost exclusively listen to music through streaming on Tidal, Spotify and Amazon Music HD. Right now I've simplified my system so that I am running a Bluesound PowerNode 2i to Zu Soul Mk IIs and a Zu Undertone Subwoofer. But like most of you, it is always changing.  Ultimately I want to have an open baffle set up but I just don't have room to get them 3' off of the wall.  Active speakers are probably the more realistic next step for me.

I do have a question: what speakers are you most interested in hearing in person? For me it's the Spatial Audio Sapphire M5, the Tekton Design Moab and the Buchardt Audio A700.

Thanks!

Welcome!

Suggest reading Floyd Toole's "Sound Reproduction" (3rd edition) to learn how loudspeakers/subwoofers behave in-room.

I'm a fan of active design.  Frankly I see little reason to jump up to the Buchardt A700 from the A500 unless you have a huge room.

Thanks - I have a pair of Wild Burro Audio Betsy 8" drivers and Caintuck baffles but I haven’t set them up yet. I need to do that!
