I use an IBM KB-8923 for what seems like 100 years, so long that some of the letters are worn off which confuses some people. It is a rubber dome but is close to a mechanical in feel without the noise. I think it will outlast me. eBay has plenty for cheap.

I've recently gone through 3 mechanical keyboards.

I got a Gamdias HERMES P3 RGB Mechanical Low-Profile Aluminum Gaming Keyboard [Brown Switches] - Brown Switches, Anti-Ghosting promoted through a purchase from iBuyPower.  The feel and action is to my liking but it only has a right side Windows/Command (Mac) key so it's annoying to use for a lot of keyboarding.

I liked it so much I went looking for a more Mac-friendly keyboard and tried a Havit.

It was nice but when the Mac went to sleep the keyboard did not wake up when the Mac did.

Currently, I'm working on a Code.

It's good but doesn't have all the fun LED craziness the gamer keyboards have

There's a page somewhere that explains the differences between the "color" switches.

Trying to find a keyboard with all the right keys (104 in my case), full size (I got meaty paws), the right switches (brown or blue), not wireless and system-friendly (Mac, in my case) is definitely a chore.  I think it took me 3 days of googling to settle on the Havit and then more for the Code.


The Das looks nice!  I didn't like what some of the reviews said about the Ducky.

I had an IBM keyboard that I used to bring with me places.  People thought it strange to be so attached to a keyboard.  Everything about it was so nice, the super-hard plastic keys, the action, the durability.  I wish I knew what model it was.

Okay first of all I am using two finger to enter this.   Why was i shocked that folks would hot rod a Keyboard

Granted the last PC game I played was Leisure Suit Larry or some Atari.   So I have to ask shouldn't this community have a long list of Hot Rod "Tweaks" as its called around here.

So What Gold plug dipped in Sub Zero juices be used on the Cable be it copper silver and braided or twisted?????  That one item is good for years of discussion.

I would guess some Glide Slide or Jell based anti vibration ( I pound)? 

Me I just need a key board with the letters on it

Just so ya know this is all tongue in cheek and now back to regular programming.

I recently got the Monoprice Dark Matter keyboard and mouse, I have an ASUS gaming desktop that came with a mech keyboard, but the Monoprice unit is MUCH better and the cost seemed reasonable for what you get, like most Monoprice products.

Also, looks like it's on a major sale, for ~$50 can't be beat... I spent $89 or so.

I like the blue switches for the clicky sound and tactile feel.   The sound and feel reminds me old keyboards (not quiet).

Great keyboard. Seems well built. A bit hefty. The manufacturer says it's silent, but that's a lie. Most mechanical keyboards are multicolored -- I didn't want that crap, and I don't use a 10-key, and I wanted a wired one, so this keyboard is good for those who require minimal functionality.

The mouse has the speed (DPI) built into it, which overrules the settings in the control panel. You probably saw that, but thought I'd mention it just in case...

I'm still using 10 year old Lenovo T420 because it has a full size mechanical keyboard that's centered on the screen. Can't buy that anymore with new laptops. I have another one on ice for when this one goes.  
I don't think I could get used to the new laptops with chicklet keys.

I have the Filco Majestouch Convertible 2. I chose this one because I need wireless. I like it very much. If I recall correctly, I got the brown switches.
