Star Trek Discovery - Season 3

Commander Michael Burnham and crew emerge from the wormhole almost 1000 years in the future to escape the Control artificial intelligence. With new worlds, new aliens and new catastrophes to explore Season 3 is set to continue it's mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.
Based on the first two episodes now available on CBS All Access they are off on a rollicking good start. The production value is high with more money spent on special effects while retaining some of the roll-your-eyes preachiness of the original. But Burnham and the crew are now quicker to throw a punch and vaporize villains. As in all Star Trek series, the acting is somewhere in between Meryl Streep and soap operas, usually at the same time, that is part of it's charm.
Season 3 will work as a stand alone series if you haven't watched the first 2 seasons, a little of the back story is shown at the beginning of each episode but I recommend starting at Season 1.
