cube mix reference monitor
« on: 20 Oct 2020, 06:27 pm »
I am interested in the LGK 1.0 as a reference monitor to check mixes as a secondary reference to my mains.
Little cubes such as Auratone 5c, Reftone and Avantone are all very much cube shaped little boxes.
Would the 1.0 in a sealed version change the response, particularly in the mid range?
What would be the effect of putting the LGK driver in a sealed cube? would it still have a flat response with just less bass?

BTW, total noob. I don't know anything about design of cabs or crossovers. Be gentle.

The more important question is when will I get more of the drivers in stock. And the answer might be soon. The latest version of them made to hit my target parameters and measured response levels looks to have been achieved. New samples are being sent.

If all looks good then I will likely have a 1,000 of them made this time.

And yes they would be fine for mixing with but I would stick with the rear ported version. Even if placed close to a wall, the port output is very minimal.

I have no real practical place to deploy and use the LGK's. So, of course, I'll be buying and building a pair when they're back in stock.  :green:

That's the logic I use, too. The one case where I seem to adopt the  "too much is just right" thought process!

I've honestly been thinking the same thing....
it would make for good practice for using my router and give me a reason to buy a table saw... and I'm sure someone would be happy to buy them once they're completed. :P

If i dont end up selling them, i might use them as speakers for the TV in my room. They'll sure as hell beat the onboard speakers... :P

Hey Mike,

would a pair of skinny 6's be overkill for a home office + desk? Probably?

What if you made a pair of  skinny 6s arranged like the Flat 5, but with rear ports...
