Does anyone know what it will cost to ship the flat packs for the NX-Extreme and the two driver sub to Europe, more precise Denmark, Copenhagen

I would check with whomever you are buying the flat packs from first. If they can't help, you have two choices: air or ocean

Typically it will be airfreight and won't be cheap. FedEx, UPS, DHL, and I would also call the airlines that have service to your area directly. They should be able to recommend service partners to call for quotes.

Shipping pre-cut MDF from USA to Denmark will be extremely cost in-efficient.
Maybe you can find a friend that can cut them for you? MDF is relatively cheap, even in Denmark.
Or maybe ask a local carpenter or school (teknisk skole) if they can cut it for you?

Kind regards

You are absolutely right, but the NX cabinets are complicated cabinets and last time I tried to make a DIY project I wasn't able to find anyone that could help med.

You'll probably need to find someone local with a large format CNC and see if you can get the cut files/code needed from Jay, (Captainhemo) or at least the needed measurements, so the people cutting the pieces can compile their own machine code needed to make the cuts needed on their machines. But it'll probably depend on how willing they are to do custom work in that vein.

Another option is to create an account at ShopUSA (that gives you an american address to ship to), and have Captain Hemo give you a quote for the wares including shipping to that address.
Then you can use ShopUSA website to calculate the total cost of shipping, tax, local VAT etc.
I used it when buying OB woofers from Danny once.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the suggestion.  :D
But I had a very bad experience with ShopUSA when I bought my DI speakers from Tekton Design in the US.
I have never been treated so bad in my entire life. The have customer support from hell :icon_twisted:

That's one of the models that has to be CNC cut. It is just too complex of a cabinet and has to be as designed to perform as designed.

And we worked on the design quite a bit to get it to work just right with the Neo 3 tweeter. It was very particular.

Even if the drawings were given away for free you'd still spend more time and money on the programming then the cost of the shipping on the flat pack.

I know shipping will be high but it is still the best and most cost effective way.

Due to magnet strength (subwoofer ofcourse) only solution would  be ocean transport. There should be freight forwarders to offer LCL (Less Container Load) point to point. It is advisable to ask several companies as shipping lines have different pricing schemas.

I UPS those things to Europe all the time. No issues at all.

UPS is one of freight forwarders. Are you sure they deliver by air? I worked in maritime agency and several Martin Logan loudspeakers for local distributor had to be transported only by sea.

Call CH Robinson, they are global. Do ground, air, ocean, rail and can give you some options. They will shop the main carriers like UPS/FED EX versus airlines and get you the best rates. I don't think you would be saving anything trying to put this into a shipping container on a slow boat.

Vince, Denmark is homeland of largest ocean carrier and what I can see now, air carrier as well: A. P. Moller - Maersk or just Maersk Line. Simple query reports transit time from Iowa Park, TX to Copenhagen, DK, Carrier haulage, in just 25 days. MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company, second largest carrier) has transit time from Houston to Copenhagen within 19 days. That's not some long time and moneywise, compared to air transport, huge difference I believe.

Transit time from dock to dock is one thing. Getting it off the ship to the terminal, trans loaded to the carrier and transported via ground could take many more weeks unless you are willing to pay more. A good logistics company (like CHRob) has accounts with all ocean and air carriers and can provide options. There is a process a company needs to go through to ship freight direct with air and ocean carriers. You or I can't call for a quote directly. Air cargo may be cheaper than you think right now. I know a few months ago they were slow and rates were cheaper...that may have changed.

I wrote: "from Iowa Park TX to Copenhagen DK 25 days. Carrier Haulage". This means shipping line arranges point to point delivery. Cannot be door door delivery as it's consolidated shipment (several Shippers ad several Consignees). Forget the docks. It is container era and container depots exist in any larger town. On the other hand, I was distributor for South Korean manufacturer of modern audio devices, "Cocktail Audio" (aka "Nova Fidelity" in UK) and pretty well know how much air transport hurts or better say how large my order has to be to have shipping costs under 20% of goods value. Higher than that is not acceptable since transport costs are added to cargo value as base for calculating total import duties, taxes etc. In any case, for our dear Martin-Andersen it is better to contact some local (Danish) intl. freight forwarder than US based one (time zone difference, local currency payment, possible language misunderstandings etc, etc).

Agreed

I would try local and global International freight forwarders. Call several of them. Get all your options.
