I was reading reviews of "Train to Busan - Peninsula" (2020) (review coming soon) since I liked the original and one of the comments mentioned that "I Am a Hero" was much better so we decided to check it out. To get in the mood I made baby back ribs so we gnawed on rib bones while getting covered in blood red BBQ sauce.
"I Am a Hero" is based on a popular Japanese manga of the same name and is true to the source. Plenty of action so even though the film is 126 minutes it seems shorter. There are plenty of creatively designed zombies, some are real slow, some are real fast, all are extremely dangerous. Reviews describe the film as "giddy, bloodsoaked, epic, gory, funny, poignant, and very very creepy at times".
"I Am a Hero" is an action, comedy, horror film, my movie buddy said the film crew looked like they had fun making this movie, I agree. Everything leads to a way over the top zombie apocalypse.
