Speaker Building Question - External x-overs

This may need to be moved to the Lab since it is DIY related but anyway:

I am in the middle of making my first DIY speakers, the Dayton 2-Ways off the Parts Express project page.  I am making the crossovers external and I have a question.

Does anyone have any good ideas on where I could find some decent wooden boxes for the external crossovers that I could stain to match the speakers?  I don't want to have to build them from scratch.  I was hoping someone had done this before and found a wooden box somewhere that works great and is cheap.

Thanks in advance.

You could use cigar boxes.

This is what I did for one of my past projects.  You can buy pre-fabricated display cases or have one custom made for not much $ at a plastic supply store.

That's pretty funny, but where are the fish?

You should be able to find unfinished wood boxes at hobby shops.  Here's one online place that sells some: http://www.worldofboxes.com/

Thanks guys.  Hmmm...the clear plastic is tempting.  But that website is just what I was looking for.

Thanks again.

Just a thought, I have been contemplating doing a similar thing for a while now and I think Neutrik speakon connectors are an ideal connector between the  external xo and the speaker for such an application.

So in my mind something like this:

amp binding post > speaker cable spade
speaker cable spade > ext xo binding post
ext xo hardwired to output cables
output cables female speakon > male speakon connector at back of speaker box

Yes, that scheme is what I have offered on my GDR product (pictured) for years.

Soon, all dual-woofer BESL monitors will feature external passive crossovers, with tetherered umbilical terminated with the Speakon.  There are a few advantages to this, even beyond the obvious.
