The upcoming CDT•1 is a companion CD Transport allowing state of the art CD playback and ripping to files on DMC•1. It consists of a high performance slot-loading drive in a machined billet aluminum chassis. The chassis uses the same footprint as DMC, PLC, PEQ but with reduced height. Power for the drive us provided by the 5V port of DMC, audio data is through USB and clocked by the internal precision femto clocks, offering stunning performance.

The chassis design is being finished up and a few prototypes being made for testing.
In the meantime, we’ve tested many off-the-shelf drives and found this to be the best of them.
It will require a power cable and adapter (we can provide these if needed).

Any owners of the DMC-1 ever hook up a transport and try it out?

I bought the pioneer, linked above with a power adapter.  I can not get it to play "gapless" playback of a CD.  It'll pause for several seconds between songs and I can hear the disc have to spin before new track starts.  Not ideal.

I'll eventually use it to rip discs, but was looking forward to using it to just occasionally play a disc.

I have not hooked up a transport to my DMC-1, but thought I would mention that Dusty recommended a great tagging program called Music Tag. I download quite a bit of music and Music Tag allows me to name the files by Artist, Album, Track title, and add artwork, then I load the files onto the drive that attaches to the DMC-1 which can then find, recognize and play the music.

I have been using the DMC-1 since it was first released about 5 years ago. I found that its internal DAC is as good or better than my Schitt Yggdrasil. Curious if anyone has replaced the DMC-1 with something they like better?

I've still got my DMC-1, but it's boxed up (along with my whole system) and hasn't been used in a while. Grandpa duties have proved more deserving of my free time. 8)
