Are you referring to a "professional" review or an AC member review?  I can provide my impressions after mine are fully broken in.  However, I might not be able to articulate a comparison as well as those who have changed out their speakers many times over.

As of right now, mine are sounding quite impressive without any putty removal or pot adjustments.  I've been mainly focusing on the placement within the room rather than tuning the speakers themselves (my speakers sit against different walls - not ideal).  Nonetheless, detail and imaging are excellent.  I haven't found a song yet that taxes the bottom of the megawoofers (I need a fatter Cosmic Hippo  ).  Horizontal dispersion is freakishly wide.  Vertical dispersion is limited, but I'll admit that the non-sweet spot detail is more than ample if you are not sitting down for some critical listening.

I'll offer additional impressions after some due burn-in time.

With a few notable exceptions, products that are primarily sold direct from smaller companies (that don't spend a lot of money advertising in mags like Stereophile) don't get much ink in the rags.  I guess a cynic would say that the larger companies are basically paying for their editorial coverage & reviews by buying glossy pages in those mags, and almost certainly this is at least partly true.  Maybe this is why B&W, Wilson, Magnepan, etc get reviewed every few months while companies like VMPS, GR Research & Selah are virtually ignored.  Even winning CES didn't result in a rash of pro reviews for the RM40.

Florian,

You are really going to love your new speakers.  My RM30's are sounding so sweet right now.  I wanted that last octave of bass that I thought I was missing and I bought an ACI Maestro to go with the RM30's.  I also bought some cheap room treatments and now my system is totally dialed in to my tastes.  Soundstage, imaging, detail, dynamics, I've got it all.  In fact, I am listening to Bob Dylan right now and I can't believe how good it sounds.  And I have very mediocre electronics as a front end.  It takes some time for break in and the endless tweaking possibilities can be daunting.  Rest assured, once it comes together, very few speakers will better yours.

Thanks for the reply guys  :D

I was wondering about the "prof. reviews". I guess one company has to pay the big Mags to be noticed eh?

B&W advertises everywhere and every single little speaker that they make gets reviewed.  I was just curious as to why VMPS does not get the same coverage. I stopped reading Magazines since the top 10 speakers where the same as the top 10 advertisers.

I am sure i am gonna love my RM30's, and i sure hope that i wont miss my 3.6R  Thats my biggest worry.

Was there a particular reason you got rid of the Magnepan 3.6?  Moving to the RM 30's seems like a lateral move IMO.

Well the primary reason was the darn room. I messed with it for over a month and it just didnt sound right to me. For instance, i dont get much of a 3D stage without having the speakers 8 -10ft of the backwall which i cant do for cosmetic reasons. The speaker sounds a bit dark, but i love the huge soundstage. Also i love the speed and the air, but the the speaker does not really have this "box focus". It seems like there is no border and everything is big. Sometimes to big.

I looked at many speakers from Eminent Tech, NewForm Research, ML and decided on the VMPS because in almost the entire critical range it uses the same fast driver. Also they are a lot smaller than my 3.6R which makes it easier for me to make them sound good in a apartment in the future.

Plus i must admit that i thought to myself before i bought them "if they sound worse, just get another 3.6R". I dont think i will have that, but it does cross my mind sometimes. My guess is that my mind will be at ease once the RM30's get here.

Thanks-and glad your diggin your RM30's and ancillaries!

The Jolida is a really great sounding/looking unit. I was originally looking at a  "Serenada, -SE"

This unit cost over 4000$ US. Then i noticed that the Jolida is 100% identical exept for the phono amp. I even have a sticker inside the jolida that says LUA Audio  :D

Jolida and Lua buy the amp from the same people, and it just happens that JD sells it for 1500$ and Lua sells it for 4K. And i bought it for 400$   :D

The unit sounds really good. Sorry i cant express how it sounds in audiophile terms, but your welcome to come by and have a listen.
