getting started
« on: 2 Jun 2020, 10:12 pm »
Hi there.  I'm just starting out in DIY sound.  I've always been handy but was worried that I may not be able to handle the crossover assembly in an X-LS Encore kit.  Then I saw Danny's post here and realized it really is straightforward.  And someone sells mdf cab kits for ~ $200, so this seems like a very good way to go.  Or I could just buy a set of KEF Q150 and start listening....  I would want to put a white finish on these cabinets but I don't know what materials and prep steps would be needed for a high quality finish.  That's the only step that I'm leery of at this point.  I can't search for an answer until I post 2 more things, so I'll just ask here - any thoughts?

Thanks.

I have not see painting tutorial in our Forum.
But you will need a least 1 base layer before the final paint.
