AKSA 55N with Proac 2.5 clone
« on: 23 Feb 2005, 10:51 pm »
Have anybody maybe tried or heard this combination of power amp and speakers?

Yes I know it would be better with AKSA 100, but  financial attributes play a important  part here. They are 8 ohm easy to drive, but with 86 dB. My room is small about 20 m2, these speakers were not made to be a party animal, but for serious listening.

So... Aksa 55 will do it fine, or not?  Any advice?

Hi,

I have a center channel based on that clone. As told here, the 100w has more slam in it.

But you shouldnt have any problems in driving them with the aksa55N, (although my amp is a 100AKSA) and if your intents are "serious listening" the aksa55n+ should result in a cheaper and maybe better option.
Remember Proac sounds veeery good with valves with just a few watts.

Rimljan99,

Felipe is right - thanks Felipe!  :thankyou:

The AKSA 55N or N+ would be just fine for the ProAc 2.5.  They do not, as far as I know, dip below 3.5R.  This is the point at which you need to scale up to the 100W AKSA.  Down to 3.5R the smaller amp is fine.

Cheers,

Hugh

Thanx for reply :D

I have almost sent an order for AKSA 100N, but I think that in my case AKSA 55N+ should done it better.

So if I understand correctly AKSA 55 should drive 4 ohm speaker with no problems down to 3.5 ohms, but could load below 3.5 ohm damage amplifier?

It won't damage the amplifier at moderate to loud listening levels, but it won't sound as good as it should, and for loads down to 2.5R I recommend the 100W AKSA.

Hope this helps.....
