Panasonic SA-XR70 vs JVC RX-F10

Hi,
I've been looking at both models but not in a position to audition with my system prior to purchase.  I currently have a Yamaha RX-V1400 AV receiver (for Home Theater) and using a modified vintage Scott 299B Tube integrated for 2 channel sound.  With all the chatter about the sonic qualities of both of these, was wondering if either were competent enough to replace both?  My main speakers are the Klipsch RF-7s (101db efficient) and I also have a pair of Magnepan MMGs and KEF 105s I  use occasionally.  Would either receiver be better (or worse) suited for these particular speakers?  Have thought of 'upgrading' to another tube amp but can't resist the potential to be able to do it for possibly 'less' cost.  Any opinions appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

If you use analog outs buy the jvc. Digital outs buy the panny.

I guess I would be using both as my Universal DVD/DVD-A/SACD player has the 5 audio outs for multichannel audio CDs and I use an optical cable for Dolby Digital and DTS  DVDs...

Wow, those are 3 fairly interesting speakers you have there.  Would you care to compare and contrast them.  I have heard the Kef 105/3 a long long time ago.

Well, the RF-7s are the best of the 3 for home theater, due to their sheer dynamics.  I've owned  pretty much everything in the Klipsch line (KLF-20s, 30s, EPIC CF-4s, Heresy's, Chorus, Cornwalls, La Scalas, etc) and fine the RF-7s to combine the best of horns (dynamics) and the accuracy of cones.  They also sound great for 2 channel listening with tubes as you can still get a good presentation even at low listening levels late at night.  For HT I used the matching RC-7, KSP-S6 surronds, and SVS 20-39 sub.

The Maggies have a great, layered presentation.  Very deep, very 'open' sound.  A little deficient in the bass but a joy to listen to.

The KEFs are really the most technically accurate of all 3.  Great bass, accurate mids and sparkling highs.  The midrange and tweeter head assembly can be adjusted (rotated) towards the listener.  I'm currently using these in a bedroom system with a B&K ST 140 amp and L-10 preamp and Panasonic DVD-RP-91.  I know eventually I need to scale back on one of my systems as my spouse suspects I'm secretly running a stereo shop

Dave

Buy one of each. One for movies. One for music.

I do understand that you use your present setup for both movies and music, and that you are trying to determine which of the receivers would best suit your needs - and since you use both digital and analog connections, this is an interesting one.

How about this - if you had to say one way or the other, which is more important to you?  Music or movie sound?

That might swing the vote a little.

Also, for 2 channel listening, if you do, which do you use, analog or digital connection from the source?
