Greetings from Maine
« on: 29 May 2020, 03:41 pm »
Hello all. I admit to kicking in and out of the forum via Google to read for several years, so I am familiar with some aspects. I have recently retired/stopped working for wages. I'll have to figure out the website's hurdles to get to the point of sharing systems and other profile data.

I have systems in multiple rooms around the house, to the point where I might have more than I need...

But on the other hand, there are certainly things that I would like to try!

On the list for today? Trying the amplifier's 4 ohm taps in stead of the 8s, on a longstanding pair of Vandersteen 1b speakers.

"Impedance: 6.8 ohms ±2 ohms"

Checking the usual run of HifiShark, USAM, Craigslist to see what's newly listed.

The 8 ohm taps have turned out to be the better choice. I have been using the old Vandersteens for several years, and they have been helpful for listening to a variety of upstream components. I have wondered about moving on to a newer Vandersteen.

My style had been to pick up certain vintage items, and then perhaps sending them off for refurbishment. More recently I have ordered items from Dennis Had, Aric Kimball, and Louis Chochos.
