Very rare Sony TA-5650 Vfet integrated and Sony ST-3950SD Tuner set. This has the rare and amazing sounding vfet transistors. The 5650 is the only integrated that has vfet's for the phono stage, which makes it the most unique.
I paid to have all the necessary modifications and adjustments done, which include: replacing the hazardous original diodes, new resistors and caps, and rebiased according to the Sony recommended update. All of this was done by Northridge Electronics, a well-known repair shop in Los Angeles, not by an amateur DIY person. Also, you can see that all the vfets are the same rating and are in great shape, which is the best you can ask for with this unit. These updates ensure long life and reliability. This Sony is very detailed and images better than any other integrated I have owned. Also, the headphone out is one of the best I have ever heard bettering a lot of standalone units with mu Focal Elex, I imagine because of the vfets. There are some scratches on both units, but overall the functional condition is excellent. The reason for selling is, well....the economy isn't doing so hot, and I have a lot of gear and not enough space.
