A lovely pair of cult favorite, Meitner MTR-100 solid state amps. 100 watts per channel.
Asking
$995 for the pair.
Lowered to $745 with shipping included in CONUS. Designed and made by Ed Meitner, one of the key developers of SACD and the superb EMM Labs digital products, these mono amps are stunning, visually as well as sonically. Despite their small footprint, the amps are capable of superb performance with all types of speakers.
The beautiful real mahogany cases and the poly-vinyl faces and power buttons are in very good condition considering the age of these beauties. A few nicks and some swirling on the clear coat finish, but nothing terrible.
These little guys are remarkably musical, with some tubelike warmth, and very good detail, tone and dynamics. They had wonderful control over my lower efficiency Vandersteens and can handle even electro stats without breaking a sweat. I’m reluctant to sell them, even after buying an amp 3x as expensive.
These were also lovingly upgraded in 2008 by Stephen Sank, a highly regarded tech, here in Tucson. New caps, IEC power inputs for aftermarket power cords, high quality WBT 5-way binding posts, and all new silver internal wiring.
Google the Meitner MTR-101 amps for lots of wonderful reviews on these. These are one generation earlier and the only difference is these have heat dissipating fins instead of the 101s unique heat dissipating rods. Still run fairly cool. And full disclosure- one of these amps has a bit of mechanical hum inside the case. It does not affect signal to speakers at all and could possibly be fixed with a bit of damping material.
Don’t have original boxes, but will double box well.
Thanks!
Lincoln
