Hello from the state of Ill. AKA Illinois

New here and wanted to say hello from The not so great state of Illinois. Just paid my property taxes for half the year. $5000.00 on a simple 3 bedroom home.

Welcome to the forum. We lived in central Illinois during the early 90s. No complaints, to be honest though, we were working so hard we don't have a lot of memories of our stay.

Welcome!  The tax structure of various states is an interesting topic (was involved in state and local taxes for 25-30 years - started when I was 8 years old of course :lol:) and varies by taxing jurisdiction.  Believe it or not you're not even in one of the most expensive real estate tax areas - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/property-tax-which-homeowners-around-the-u-s-pay-the-highest/   It's just the way it is. Much more enjoyable to discuss audio for sure.

When we moved just outside the city limits, our property taxes dropped in half.

Welcome, fellow Illinoisian!  (Illinoisite?) I would say 'Illini', but that has too much of a University of Illinois flavor. :-)
