The great Earl Geddes says to solve physical problems via physical means.  DSP should only be used as icing on the cake.  Using DSP is like squeezing a balloon, you can't change the amount of air in it, just the shape of the balloon.

Indeed - this is mostly for xover filtering, and then some very light room correction beyond what my wife will let me do via physical means.

I've been around DSP for other sciences for 20 years. It's good to let the nicer parts of a day job bleed into a hobby - keeps one engaged.
