Eastern Electric MiniMax preamp upgrade

Does anyone have experience with the available upgrade package for the Eastern Electric MiniMax preamp? I'd like to know exactly what the upgrade entails, what others' experience with it has been, and whether they feel it was worthwhile. You can buy some nice NOS tubes for $200 (cost of the upgrade from Morningstar), and I'm trying to determine where my upgrade dollars are best spent, since I'm also presently in need of some decent ICs.

Thanks in advance,
Todd

I purchased the upgraded MiniMax preamp a few months ago and have been very pleased with it, (expecially with NOS tubes) but have never heard the one without the upgrade so I can't comment on how the two compare.

Here's a great review under the Critics Circle titled Mini vs Mini by Carlman, comparing the upgraded to standard.

The $200 figure I stated for the MiniMax upgrade includes the cost of return shipping! I stated it as a total out of pocket expense, not realizing that some may interpret that figure as being "plus shipping" My apologies to Bill O'Connell at Morningstar for any confusion that I may have created.

Be well, all.

Hi Todd,

No need for apology. I should have stated in my email that the price was always $150 plus $30 for shipping back and forth. The $20 increase to $170 plus shipping for a total of $200 was my lack of communication to you. I apologize for the confusion.

 Kindest Regards,
 Bill
