Regarding that stuff sold by PE. You are better off just lining it with fiberglass insulation. That stuff has no damper and no resonance control. Then the suspended barrier layer tends to mass load the woofer and muddy the mid-range. Pull that stuff out and the sound will improve.
If it was something more worthwhile, I'd consider it. But these speakers are probably oversized as it is, and lack any bracing or real design.. and the dampener has done a decent job reducing cabinet resonance. I didn't notice any change in the Mids, but the bass was much more controlled, but still not perfect. Anything beyond more bracing, would push these speakers past their actual costs. (Prob $100 in the early 90s)
I'd much rather put that money into better speakers..

But as for the AV3s I would recommend Norez first and foremost, as with any other kit.
