I'd highly recommend NoRez. I've used a cheaper alternative from Parts Express on my father's cheap Technics speakers, and it really helped dampen the cabinet resonance. (it still needs some braces tho) tho NoRez has the dampening layer directly connected to the adhesive layer, which would help even more. (The chaper stuff has a slim layer of foam between the adhesive and dampening layer)

Regarding that stuff sold by PE. You are better off just lining it with fiberglass insulation. That stuff has no damper and no resonance control. Then the suspended barrier layer tends to mass load the woofer and muddy the mid-range. Pull that stuff out and the sound will improve.

If it was something more worthwhile, I'd consider it. But these speakers are probably oversized as it is, and lack any bracing or real design.. and the dampener has done a decent job reducing cabinet resonance. I didn't notice any change in the Mids, but the bass was much more controlled, but still not perfect. Anything beyond more bracing, would push these speakers past their actual costs. (Prob $100 in the early 90s)

I'd much rather put that money into better speakers..

But as for the AV3s I would recommend Norez first and foremost, as with any other kit.

Nah, I'm talking about my dad's 90s Technics speakers.

The AV3s are excellently braced, as are all of Danny's designs.

I agree they are braced very well..by your post I thought I bought the wrong kits lol now I just need to figure out what to do for a sub and rear surrounds

I am in clinton township and will be building the nx-xtreme and pair of triple subs in about 3 months. I have a dedicated music room that is fully treated with diffusion as well. Ill post pics here when Im done and anyone in MI is welcome to hear them if they would like.

The best solution for rear speakers all depends on you room. Ideally you want to be as far away from your rear speakers as you are from your front speakers. In practice that is typically not the case.

So I'd need to know more about your room size and seating distances to really make a good recommendation.
