I am new here and have to put up three posts so here is the third one. I am 69 and have been into audio since I was in my early 20's. My current power amp that I have had for about 10 years now is a push pull 300B. It used to be 2A3's, but I changed out the filament transformers and installed TJ Mesh Plate 300Bs. I got the mesh plates based on Thorsten Loesch's article at Enjoy the music where he compared numerous 300B tubes and settled on the TJ's.
The 2A3 amp sounded wonderful... easy to listen to as is the case with the 2A3. But the change to 300Bs still has the easy to listen to sound because it is push pull but more substance behind it with the increased power.
I am driving a pair of Rega NAOS which have also been written about on Enjoy the Music. They are a Voight (spelling?) Pipe design that has been folded to make them wife friendly. I added a pair of super tweeters that I bought from Atelier Rullit of Germany.
My turntable is a Teres that I have had for about 12 years. I bought if from a now dearly departed friend named Tony Daggs who was very involved with the old "Joe List". I replaced the base that he had built with a solid piece of Bubinga wood. He had an SME 3009 arm on it that I replaced with a Pete Riggle "Woody" tonearm about 5 years ago. I have tried many cartridges over the years both moving coil and moving magnet but I am currently using a Grace F9 with a Soundsmith ruby cantilever stylus.
Well I guess that is enough for now. Glad to be joining this group of Audio Enthusiasts!
