Produced by Michael Moore and like nothing he has done before.

Will be watching this after work today!  :thumb:

He did a short interview with Steven Colbert on The Late Show yesterday as well.

Michael Moore seems to be both intelligent and has common sense. I also liked "Where to Invade Next". Releasing "Planet of the Humans" for free on YouTube was really nice.

NIGHTFALL1970

I would never use Michael Moore, intelligent and common sense in the same sentence. Didn’t he just discover that electric cars use energy? :o

This like nothing Michael Moore has ever done before. Actually the very opposite you would expect from him.

Don't write this Utube movie off without watching it first.  Your assumptions are misguided until you have actually watched it.

According to the wiki page, Moore backed it..

Planet of the Humans is an environmental documentary film that was directed by Jeff Gibbs and was released in 2019. It was backed and promoted by Michael Moore.
[1] For Earth Day 2020, Moore released it on YouTube for free watching.[2] The next day, a distributor pulled the film due to inaccuracies and errors.[3]
Release[edit]The film received its world premiere at the Traverse City Film Festival in July 2019.[4] On April 21, 2020, the eve of Earth Day, Moore announced that the film would be available for free on YouTube for 30 days.[5]Reception[edit]Peter Bradshaw in the Guardian called the film "refereshingly contrarian."[6] Gary Mason in The Globe and Mail referred to the film as, "The Michael Moore-backed film enviros are dreading."[7]
    The
Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote of the movie, "Mr. Gibbs and Mr. Moore critique wind energy for requiring enormous amounts of copper and rare earth minerals. Wind farms also require developing large tracts of land. Solar energy gets dinged for its dependence on mining coal and quartz."[8]
Dennis Harvey in Variety claims "Gibbs’ dull monotone makes him a poor narrator", "there’s nothing particularly elegant about the way “Planet of the Humans” arrives at its downbeat thesis," and "though well-shot and edited, the material here is simply too sprawling to avoid feeling crammed into one ungainly package."[9]
With the Earth Day 2020 release, the film received more attention for climate and clean-energy experts who panned the film for inaccuracies, errors, and bias. A film distributor pulled the film on receiving a letter detailing these.

I can’t believe Michael Moore put his name to this as it’s pretty damning to the whole green energy movement I thought he was in favor of. Unless he’s tired of being lied to all these years like Gibbs apparently is. If what they say in this is true I’m at a loss for words.

There is a lot of controversy, and enormous opportunity for bias in the assumptions you make to calculate Energy Return On Energy Invested (EROEI). Then there are unmeasureables such as the environmental and social impact of mining materials required for batteries and motors, the disruption it causes to install and maintain large scale solar and wind, store nuclear waste, etc.

I've been trained to evaluate EROEI by the guy who invented the term and wrote my college thermodynamics textbook, but people seem to get angry at anything you say about this subject, so I will say NOTHING. 2 of my posts have been moved to quarantine. We HAVE had discussions on EVs here that were allowed...

Just curious if there was anything you found fault with in this doc. I had heard the term biomass before but I had no idea that’s what they’re doing. I’m still scratching my head on that one.

I saw it a few days ago.
Sobering, disturbing and too depressing to share with anyone.

I haven't seen it but do they compare let's say a solar panel - which once put in place don't pollute or take any more energy - with oil or natural gas which you still need to process, transport (with the energy needed to do that, plus spillage or accidents) and it continues to release heat and pollutants into the atmosphere?

:D it's a eye opener on so called green energy.  BS this green energy. We are screwed 7 ways to Sunday. It never touched on food or water. To many people it talked about. The Océan has been taking most of the heating. The water is hot as never before.  Jet stream broken. On and on and on.   Some say we have 10 years before Mad Max.  :D pot shops and liquor stores doing big business.

I just finished watching it, and like you, was surprised about the biomass part.  How can anyone consider that a “green” and sustainable option?

No need to worry about that, Corona will get most of us first, 55000 and counting...

Just goes to prove he's more fair and balanced than than his wack job critics.
