New to AudioCircle.
« on: 20 Apr 2020, 07:08 am »
Hello my name is Billy, i've joined audio circle after watching a vew of GR Research on their channel as well as new record day. and it has made me become interested in learning the DIY side of the audiophile hobby. being a welder and working the the high performance car industry, i'm always interested in learning how to improve the performance of something yourself and not paying somebody to do it for you. my current system is a Pioneer Elite vsx-84txsi and a klipsch thx ultra2 7.2 home theater system. after watching the a few videos i got me thinking about if I could improve the performance of my speakers after seeing how cheaply made the Klipsch RP-600M. of course it can be done, but I know nothing about building a crossover network or even where to start after sticking my phone in the port of my speaker (and nearly losing it) to take pictures of the crossover i saw that it had sandcast resistors on cross over and very thin foam lining the cabinet so I know I can at the very least replace the foam with nores. anyways I look forward to speaking with everyone on here!

Welcome!

Wow that's a horrible room (too small and terribly shaped).  Which makes you a great candidate for headphones.

I know, gives new meaning to near-field listening.  I do have headphones, HD650, but prefer listening via speakers. Just ordered a pair of Omega's from Louis as an excuse to move to a larger room now occupied by the wife...this will never happen, but I can dream.
