Loss of resolution?
« on: 18 Apr 2020, 08:11 pm »
Perhaps someone can help me resolve my confusion on this. My Cary DMS-600 ADC will pass on DSD256 and MQA. My output goes by S/PDIF to my crossover without digital to analog conversion.  The 3 way crossover is a miniDSP which then does the digital to analog conversion and sends the audio to my amps. However the miniDSP  is limited to 192/24. The only 3 way crossover I have been able to find  that would work with MQA and DSD256 comes from France and costs more than my Audi! Not going to happen! I have been told I shouldn't be concerned as this is not an issue but I am still puzzled. I guess I don't know all I understand about this

Probably best to post in the 'Discless Circle' vs. in the Starting Block.  According to the manual "The SPDIF outputs include one each of COAXIAL & OPTICAL.
• When playing PCM files of 16 – 24 Bit, 44.1 kHz - 192 kHz, digital output will match the
source. If using TruBit™ Upsampling above 192 kHz, there will be no SPDIF digital output.
• When playing DSD files, there will be no SPDIF digital output."
