Greetings from Raleigh
« on: 5 Apr 2020, 03:53 pm »
I discovered Audio Circle in the process of looking for a speaker kit.  I first found the GR site and their X-LS kit, which took me to the GR section of the forum, which brings me here.

I have attached an image of my listening position at home here in Raleigh.  It includes LX521 speakers that I built last year, with a Schitt Modi 3 DAC, an Akitika PR101 preamp that I also built last year, and low level crossover and Outlaw 5000 amps required by the speakers. Cables are inexpensive Mediabridge RCA and speaker cables made from Parts Express wire and connectors.  I also have an old Rotel tuner, Sony CD changer, and less old MMF 5 turntable with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge that don't get used too much.  Most of  my listening is from either Qobuz or JRiver running on a Windows laptop.

I am retired and enjoy building things. I am also an engineer and want to know how things work. And I enjoy most kinds of music.  All of that comes together in this hobby.

I look forward to enjoying this forum.

Welcome J,
It's good to welcome a fellow speaker builder.  Have you considered DIY elecrostats?

Enjoy the AC!

Welcome from a former resident of Beaufort, NC. We're now in Portland, OR, and remember North Carolina fondly. Great seafood, great sense of humor, and warm (if humid) weather. I had to drive 3-4 hours to your area to find a stereo dealer, though.

Nice looking setup. Looks like a fine retreat from everyday life.
