Hi all, I'm a new to the audiophile hobby. I have been following GR-Research's videos and found this forum. I am looking forward to seeking DIY upgrade ideas for my pair of Elac Uni-fi UB5. Nice to meet you!

Welcome to Audio Circle. :D

The simplest approach to upgrading your Elac speakers might be to just rebuild the existing crossovers with better parts. You might as well install No-rez and tube connectors while your at it. I might do that with my Amphions which supposedly measure really well.

Welcome!

Why do so many believe they can outsmart a company like ELAC with over 80 years of experience and the esteemed speaker designer Andrew Jones?

Come on Jeff, it's not about outsmarting anyone. You know they are built to a price point... right?  That the crossover consists of nothing but very cheap parts and that other compromises had to be made in  order to accomodate the price point.
