Greeting From Florida
« on: 25 Feb 2020, 01:19 pm »
Hello everyone, another audiophile joining the circle.I am currently fascinated by the new series of kit coming out of GR Research. The passion and design maturity seen in the GR speakers is phenomenal. Danny Richie has a way of explaining what is otherwise complicated theory and application. I learned so much just watching Danny's YouTube videos. Just lost a pair of Thiel CS2.3's due to one of the mid-tweeter assemblies dying, Thiel wants $630+ to replace the mid/tweeter assembly. Wife says no, move on with my $600 to a little more updated design. Eyeing either the CST-1's currently on sale or the NX-Otica kit. I also have an ongoing Kef 107 restoration project, woofers currently being serviced by Midwest Speaker Repair in MN. I am mostly focused on 2-channel but I have a by-pass on my pre amp for home theater. My current system consist of the following:

Modded Energy Pro 22 Speakers on original stands
DIY remote controlled passive pre-amp (Home Theater Bypass circuit)
Emotiva SA250 Stealth Amp
Technics  SL-1200 MK300
Schitt Mani Phono Pre
Oppo DVD Player serving as transport
Marantz AV 7702 (HDMI Switching)

Welcome to Audio Circle. The CST-1 at 900 is an incredible bargain, they even look nice too. :thumb: :thumb:.

Thanks audiophiles for the greetings. Received bad news today, I mean sad news. I mentioned in my greeting I have an ongoing Kef 107 re-built project. loved those speakers, sent woofers to Midwest Speaker Repair for servicing. Got word back today. the speakers were damaged during shipping, thanks UPS, absolutely ridiculous. One is irreparably damaged :(.  Can't figure how this happened, doubled boxed, wrapped in bubble wrap and them packed some more. Pic attached...I could stand on the speaker frame and not do this much damage.

Welcome to A/C.

I have a claim pending with UPS now. Arrived home to an envelope containing a spare headshell that I had ordered, only to find the package ripped open, the box inside ripped open and the headshell missing.
